To reflect the community-oriented, craft-focused approach to their business (the cafés employ entirely manual equipment, brewing exclusively artisan roasted beans), graphics, typography, and materials were kept deliberately low-fi. To attract a diverse, forward thinking crowd, typography and imagery varies greatly, but each element is infused with a tongue-in-cheek playfulness, and a whimsical reverence for coffee's connection to contemporary culture. The building's original and intensely worn brick wall and fir flooring were re-exposed in order to compliment the clean, open plan for the space. Custom seating was designed and organized to encourage customer interaction and foster a space for active community dialogue. It is made by hand in Vancouver, BC, using traditional techniques in a labour-intensive process. Pyrrha needed a way to communicate its aesthetic roots, design process, and brand history to a widespread and varied customer base. Caste aided Pyrrha in assembling a visual and verbal narrative, from which a comprehensive brand book was developed. The book's content, format, paper stock, and print techniques, work together to communicate the romantic, emotional, tactile quality of the Pyrrha brand. Working closely with Pyrrha's designers, Caste helped create a space that presented Pyrrha's jewelry in a context that reflected the Pyrrha brand. The interior features a mixture of vintage and custom jewelry displays, including a display shelf made from over 750 hardcover books.
